24th Cheltenham (Leckhampton) Scout Group

Explorer Scouts is for young people from both sexes aged between 14 and 18 and although based at the Leckhampton Scout Hut are actually managed by a team at District level. The Explorer Scouts based at Leckhampton are known as the Devil's Chimney Explorer Scout Unit after the prominent Cheltenham landmark.

Explorers are encouraged to lead themselves in deciding the programme and direction of the Unit, with support and guidance from leaders. The section also includes the Young Leaders Scheme, where young people are able to take on a leadership role in one of the younger sections.

There is wider scope for activities like offshore sailing, campaigning, performing, parascending, mountaineering and expeditions.

Explorers meet on a Friday night during the school terms.
